From December to January, a new exhibition was displayed at Moo Gé by renowned Maldivian Artist Hajja Nazwa, on her speciality artistic medium of embroidery on photographs.

Threading Time brings together her love for taking photos and embroidery… stories from the streets, little details, and island light, all stitched into moments that stay. Through Threading Time, Hajja explores how thread can hold memories stitched together, the streets she walks, the colors she notices, the calm that stays.

Since its establishment, Threading Time continues to be in demand, already selling 15 artworks and counting..

Five years ago, my photo embroidery journey began as a form of art therapy, inspired by incredible artists around the world. I’ve always loved taking photos… little scenes from everyday life and that habit of noticing small details naturally shaped the way I create.

My first pieces were stitched on historical photos from the Dhivehi Archives, opening a doorway into our past. Today, I mostly stitch on my own photographs.. moments from my homeland, our culture, our history, and the everyday beauty that surrounds us.

I’m inspired by the small things, street corners, bursts of colour, the gentle chaos of the city, and the calm of island living.
