    FAQ’s

    – Who are we?

Suvāsthi Gallery by Oaga Art Resort is an artistic space platforming passionate talent from Maldives to the whole world. Conceptualized under our Fannuverin Fathuruverinnah initiative, Suvāsthi Gallery invites you to explore curated collections and retail spaces that represent a timeless taste of the true spirit of Maldives.

In the ancient Maldivian language (boadha bas) Suvāsthi is a word (noun.) meaning an expression of happiness (އުފާވެރިކަން ފާޅުކުރާ ފާޅު ކުރުން). Just like Oaga, the dream of Suvāsthi Gallery was born through an intentional creative process of returning to our roots and learning what it truly means to be at home. Suvāsthi Gallery is inspired by Maldives’ deep history as a thriving ocean kingdom, brought to you by unbelievably talented artists expressing the moment with us here at Oaga Art Resort.

Culture, tradition, craftsmanship and talent take center stage as we finally kick-off our vision for a collective platform that takes homegrown art beyond borders and creates new possibilities for local artists.

    – Why exhibit with us?

    • Prominent Exposure: Our gallery space is located in Oaga Art Resort, ensuring your work is seen by a diverse and engaged local and international audience.
    • Networking Opportunities: Connect with fellow artists, art enthusiasts, and potential buyers, fostering valuable connections within the global art community.
    • Professional Support: Our team will provide support in curating and promoting your exhibition, ensuring your art is presented in the best possible light.
    • Artistic Freedom: We believe in fostering artistic creativity and expression. You have the freedom to showcase your unique style and vision.

    – How do you know I have been selected & how do you select your artists?

    • After submitting your artworks with your application via email, we’ll contact you through email or, if necessary, on Instagram. We appreciate diverse art forms and welcome artists exploring new and innovative approaches in their chosen medium. We seek those with a unique perspective on their medium or subject, ensuring a fair opportunity for all artists, especially those who haven’t been selected before. We also screen for inappropriate or offensive content.
    • At times, our calls are tailored to specific themes, as is the case with the finalized themes for 2024 exhibition. We seek artists capable of submitting works that align with these themes and subject matter. The artwork, however, can be portrayed in diverse ways, conveying various meanings. Interpretation is always left to your viewers.

    – Does all my artwork need to be framed?

    • Yes! When delivering the final artwork, all artworks need to be framed by the artist. (We will provide you with a list of partnered vendors for framing, art supplies, and printing.

    – Does all the artwork & frames need to be the same size, colour & style?

    • We accept:
      – Largest – 42 x 59.4 cm (This decision is informed by our experience, as travelers often hesitate to carry larger artworks due to concerns about the added weight with framed artworks. We cannot accept any artworks that are larger than this)
      – Smallest – 14.8 x 21.0 cm.
      – Round Largest: 40 cm in diameter.
      – Round Smallest: 10 cm in diameter.
    • The framing will be determined by the size of your artwork and the chosen surface material (such as canvas, paper, cardboard, wood panels, etc.). For Large artworks, based on the sizes provided, the frame size can extend 1 inch beyond the artwork’s dimensions.
    • There are no restrictions on the color and style of frames. We encourage all artists to opt for bold and colorful frames & styles for their artwork.
    Important note
    • Artworks on canvases can be showcased without frames. It’s essential to have the canvas stretched on a frame, and if sold, the canvas must be removable for packaging by rolling it up. If the canvas artwork is framed with glass, ensure it is not excessively heavy.
    • For resin artworks, be mindful of the weight of your artwork.

    – How will the artwork be mounted on the wall?

    • Currently, we use screws for wall mounting artworks. Ensure your artwork is equipped with a hook or string for proper wall mounting upon preparation.

    – How should I price my artwork?

    • Based on our experience in the past year, we’ve observed that many travelers are hesitant to invest in high-priced artworks due to the novelty of this concept. Whether you’re a first-time seller or a seasoned one, determining the right price for your artwork can be challenging. Set it too high, and your piece might languish unsold; set it too low, and you risk undervaluing your work.
    • When pricing your artwork, keep in mind the 30% commission, GST, and service charge that will be added on top of your actual price. Considering these factors, we recommend setting your artwork’s selling price in the range of $100 to $500 (inclusive of commission + GST + service charge)
    • If you require further assistance in pricing your artwork, feel free to contact us, and we will provide guidance.

    – How will you use my art?

    • We utilize your art exclusively for its intended purpose of featuring or promoting you. Only artworks from selected artists who have granted us permission are used—whether on our website, in printed marketing materials, emails, or across social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and Tumblr. Proper credit is always given to the artists and/or the source of the artwork. It’s important to note that we do not replicate or reproduce your original artwork, and we do not acquire copyrights for your pieces (more details will be provided along with your consignment agreement)

    – What details do I need to provide before delivering the artwork?

Ensure your submission includes the following mandatory information:
