Between Two Lights: Festive Season 2026/2027
A Maldivian journey through the moments where worlds meet
Between Two Lights is not simply a festive programme. It is a journey between two emotional worlds.
The Sun brings warmth, movement, curiosity, abundance and connection.
The Moon brings mystery, reflection, storytelling, imagination and wonder.
Throughout the festive season, guests will encounter experiences that transform with the changing light, through art, music, movement, food, ocean journeys, storytelling, children’s experiences and the spaces around them.
The magic is not only in the sun or the moon.
It is in the space between them.
the story within....
Kula Sudha Ira
The Descendants of Sun and Moon
Long before unification, the Maldives was inhabited by the Dheyvi people, who thrived on fishing, farming, and trading across the Indian Ocean. These activities helped shape a rich and diverse cultural heritage. The early communities, known as Dheeva Maari, revered nature and eventually embraced Buddhism, integrating these beliefs into their daily lives. According to legend, an exiled prince from Kalinga founded the Sun (Adeetiya) Kingdom. This dynasty later united with the Lunar (Soma) Kingdom through a significant marriage, symbolizing the union of the Sun and Moon. This union led to the emergence of the Theemuge Dynasty, established by Koimala Koe, who is remembered as the first ruler to unite the islands into a kingdom. His reign marked the beginning of a new era that extended from Maliku in the north to Addu in the south. The monarchy continued to shape the Maldives’ history until it ended in 1968.
Upcoming New Villas!
Avi & Odi Water Villas
This festive season, Oaga unveils its newly crafted Avi Water Villa and Odi Water Villa categories. Inspired by the Sun, “Avi” embodies warmth, while the “Odi,” inspired by the Moon, offers a serene contrast. These two concepts beautifully intersect along the pathway between the east and west, weaving together the essence of “Kula Sudha Ira” into Oaga’s continuously evolving tapestry.
Find your Hayeh with Hoba Spa
Inspired by the “Hayeh”
Oaga’s very own wellness brand Hoba Spa curates this Festive experience, preserving the ancient wisdom of island life, where wellness was woven naturally into plants, oils, food, water, heat, touch, prayer, and rituals connected to nature.
It was never about perfection, but about living honestly through life’s rhythms and contradictions. Inspired by Hayeh—the Blue Hour between Sun and Moon—Hoba represents the balance between energy and stillness, movement and rest.
Through four pathways—Energize, Grounding, Nurture, and Recover—Hoba encourages us to release judgment, reconnect with our center, and return with kindness.
We drift. We notice. And with kindness, we return.
This Festive, Oaga invites you to find your Hayeh
Dine between the Fire & Tide
Kaa Kada
Kada Kada undergoes ambient transformations with the light each day. During breakfast and lunch, guests are immersed in the vibrant world of the Sun and its bright and warm energy. As evening falls, Kada Kada seamlessly shifts into the realm of the Moon, offering a darker, more atmospheric dining experience that reflects the island’s transition from day to night.
Iru Meyzu
Specialty Sun Table
A generous Maldivian feast inspired by the fishermen’s return from the ocean, bringing together fresh catch, local produce, and island spices over an open fire. Gathered around a shared table, we celebrate abundance, community, and the warmth of the Sun.
Handhu Meyzu
Specialty Moon Table
As the island drifts into night, dining slows beneath the glow of candlelight. Darker tones, stories told through each course, and flavors inspired by night fishing create an intimate journey into another world under the Moon.

Christmas Eve: The Gathering under One Light
Christmas at Oaga is a gathering rather than a traditional Christmas fantasy.
Guests come together around one shared light, one long communal table, and one island-inspired celebration. Where strangers become a community for one evening.
Across oceans and cultures, people have always gathered around light.
This Christmas, Oaga brings everyone together beneath one.
New Year's Eve: The Last Light & The First Light
New Year’s Eve becomes the ultimate expression of Between Two Lights.
The evening begins in the Moon state, intimate, reflective, and atmospheric.
As midnight approaches, guests are invited into a collective ritual: a moment to release something from the year that has passed. Then comes the transition.
Midnight becomes the space between worlds. The first light of the new year arrives with fire, movement, dance, celebration, and an ocean ceremony.
The party begins when the Sun returns.

The Blue Hour
The first light of morning.
The last fire of sunset.
The blue hour between them.
The moon over the lagoon.
The silence before midnight.
The first light of a new year.
Oaga’s Festive season is designed to feel less like a program of scheduled activities and more like a living island story.
Guests are not simply watching performances, attending dinners, or joining excursions. They are moving through a sequence of experiences that change with the light.
The program brings together Maldivian culture, local artists, contemporary creativity, nature, ocean experiences, food, storytelling, and inhabited performance, creating a festive season that feels rooted in the Maldives while being unmistakably Oaga.
this festive season, come to experience the space between.
