VILLA STORIES

Veyoge Gallery Pool Villa

Where art meets the soul, and stories of love and creativity intertwine with the beauty of island life, the Veyoge Gallery Villa offers a sanctuary where stories are not just remembered, but re-lived.

INSPIRATION

The Tale of Khalid & Sitti

The Veyoge Gallery Villa, inspired by the Maldivian folktale of Khalid and Sitti, reflects themes of dreams, introspection, and sacred connection through its intimate design and hidden garden cabins. Art plays a central role, with over 40 local artists contributing curated works that create a personal, sacred experience for guests. The villa’s pool illustrations, featuring minimalist icons, narrate the lovers’ reunion. Oaga’s Suvāsthi Gallery, through its CSR initiative “Fannuverin Fathuruverinah,” provides local artists revenue from villa stays and connects them to a global audience. The 2024/2025 exhibition focuses on Dreams, Intimate Reflections, and Sacred Realms, showcasing emerging artists, most under 25, and highlighting new talents.
The Veyoge Gallery Villa, inspired by the ancient Maldivian folktale of Khalid and Sitti, embodies themes of dreams, introspection, and sacred connection through its architecture and design. The intimate garden cabins, hidden within the island, reflect the lovers’ story of living in harmony away from societal gaze.

ART EXHIBITION

A Gallery Villa

The name “Gallery” Villa is no coincidence. The Veyoge Gallery Villas serve as a living space for Maldivian artists to share their stories, creativity, and perspectives through their work.
The current Veyoge Gallery Villa Exhibition 2025/2026 — “Maldives; A Simple Story” dedicates each villa to a featured artist, showcasing their interpretation of the Maldives through different artistic mediums. Each villa is brought to life with unique interactive elements, creating a distinct story and experience shaped by the artist’s vision.
Through the “Fannuverin Fathuruverinnah” initiative, every paid room night at the Veyoge Gallery Villas contributes a commission directly to the featured artist, supporting and celebrating the creative voices that continue to shape Maldivian art.

STREAM POOL

Handpainted Stream Pool

The pool illustrations were inspired by the ancient, obscure love story of Sitti and Khalid. The aim was simplicity and minimalism, drawing influence from artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat. The narrative was divided into chapters, each conveyed through a single iconic image, primarily featuring figurines and symbols. The tale unfolds from Veyoge Villa 116, tracing the perimeter of the lazy river pool and culminating at Sobi Bar in its final chapter, where the lovers are reunited for eternity after passing.
