Inside the Rebooted Haruge Beach Villas with Private Pool in the Maldives

Haruge Beach Villas at Oaga Art Resort has always had a certain way about it. A little playful, a little colourful and very Oaga. So when it was time for a reboot,  we wanted to hold onto everything that already made Haruge, Haruge –  yet, we asked a much more important question: what could make the Haruge experience even better?

The answer came in the form of thoughtful additions, well-deserved upgrades, a few things that were already perfect, and quite a lot of materials that simply needed a second chance. Welcome to the 2026 edition of our Haruge Beach Villas with Private Pool at Oaga Art Resort Maldives, where a familiar favourite gets a few new reasons to make itself at home.

A little more of everything you need

Let’s start with getting ready. The vanity has had a serious upgrade, now complete with a mini skincare fridge, plenty of storage for bottles, brushes and beauty essentials, and enhanced lighting for those all-important holiday outfit checks. We’ve added more mirrors throughout the villa too, including an adjustable-lighting mirror in the bathroom. Because natural Maldivian light is lovely, but sometimes you need the picture perfect lighting. There’s also a handy bench and unpacking nook, giving your suitcase somewhere to go besides the middle of the floor.

Then there’s the brand-new mini bar, now a fully fledge set up with a built-in wine cellar and a cocktail station. It is stocked for those very important moments between beach time and dinner. Sunset drink? Sorted. Late-night snack? Sorted. Unexpected chocolate emergency? Very much sorted. After all, a Maldives island getaway should leave plenty of room for doing absolutely nothing and eating something delicious while you’re at it.

Speaking of doing nothing, we’ve added more places to do exactly that. Inside, a cosy seating area gives you somewhere to read, chat, sip your morning coffee or simply stare into the distance, perfected with new carpeting the bedroom. There’s also a more comfortable workspace for those rare occasions when you need to write a postcard, answer an email or pretend to be productive. We still recommend the beach for serious thinking, though.

Outside, the villa deck now has its own lounging corner for slow mornings, afternoon naps and golden-hour gossip. And because some of the best holiday moments happen over food, we’ve added a private dining nook on the villa deck. Breakfast in the morning light, lunch between swims, dinner under the stars or dessert simply because you feel like it. Your Maldives villa with private pool just got another very good reason to stay in.

The upgrades you notice when you settle in

Some of the changes are less about what you see and more about what you feel. The bed, for example, got a major upgrade. Premium mattresses, plush feather pillows, soft linens and comforters, along with thoughtfully added bedside tables, mean that after a full day of sun, sea and island adventures, you have somewhere very comfortable to land.

We’ve enhanced the lighting throughout the villa, including the bathrooms, and given our infamous gifili a thoughtful upgrade too. The outdoor shower area is now weatherproofed with added roofing, so you can enjoy it in any weather – without taking away the open-air magic that makes the gifili experience so special.

The signature Vevu-inspired round pools? with the colorful handpainted murals? they’re still right where they belong,  but refreshed with fresh coats of paint waiting for another season of floating, dipping and daydreaming.

And then there are the things we deliberately didn’t change.

The signature feautures of Haruge, still remains perfectly intact – like the bedframe murals and gifili graffitis are still masterpieces, after all. These individual and unique to each  artworks are part of what gives Haruge its personality, so there was no reason to mess with something that was already doing a very good job of being fabulous.

The same goes for the feeling of the villa itself. The colour, the character, the little surprises and the distinctly Oaga sense of place are all still here. The reboot wasn’t about making this Maldives beach villa with private pool something completely new. It was about making Haruge feel even more like itself.

Giving materials a new story

Perhaps one of the most important parts of the reboot is something you might not notice straight away.

Many of the new additions and elements inside the Haruge Beach Villas with Private Pool have been created using upcycled and repurposed materials. Rather than starting from scratch, materials that could be reused were given another purpose, while existing pieces were adapted, refreshed and transformed into something new for the villas.

And then came the Oaga touch. Many of these upcycled interiors were hand-painted, reworked and repurposed by our Rahvehinn, turning existing materials into details that feel right at home in Haruge. The result is a villa where upcycled furniture, hand-painted elements and refreshed materials become part of the overall design rather than simply disappearing into the background.

So while you might see a new piece of furniture, a fresh design detail or an addition to your villa, there is often an older story underneath it. Something that was already here. Something that could have been discarded. Something that simply needed a little creativity to become useful again.

For us, this is what makes the Haruge reboot particularly special. The upgrades aren’t only about adding more. They’re about making better use of what we already have and showing how sustainable villa design can still be colourful, playful and full of personality.

Because we don’t believe everything needs to be brand new to feel fresh. Sometimes it just needs a new purpose, a fresh coat of paint and Rahvehinn who knows exactly what to do with it.

A beach villa with a little more character

The Haruge you’ve known is still here. The same iconic a frame structures; colourful character, the same signature artwork, the same Vevu-inspired pool and the same easy island feeling.

It’s simply been given a little more room to be comfortable.

More places to get ready. More places to sleep. More places to sit, snack, sip, and lounge. More thoughtful details, more comfort and more design with a story behind it.

And perhaps that’s what makes this Maldives private villa at Oaga a little different. It’s not simply somewhere to sleep between island adventures. It’s a space filled with details, artworks, materials and ideas that have been thoughtfully brought together to create an experience that feels distinctly Oaga.

So whether you’re looking for a beach villa in Maldives, a private pool villa Maldives escape or simply somewhere to practise the Art of Doing Nothing, Haruge is ready for another season.
