Meet the Artist

Amina has always been that girl with a brush, creative expression; her mother tongue. In watercolor she found a medium as luminous and alive as what she feels in her bones. Over the past decade, her practice has become a study of the world’s quiet magnificence, the unnoticed resilience in things that grow. Her paintings invite kindred souls to slow down and see what often goes unseen, to notice the quiet yet unmatched grace and strength of the earth that sustains us. Each piece she paints is an offering of observation and reverence. The weight of which she hopes is like a footstep you didn’t hear but left a perfect imprint on stone.

Quiet. Unshaken. Deeply rooted.

They were here before we came, and here they will remain, long after we are gone. This is a tribute to our local flora, steadfast, dignified, often overlooked. From the coconut palms that hold our very bones together, to the beautifully fragrant yet lethal Oleander, these paintings honor our silent residents whose stories have intertwined with ours across time immemorial. Born into a generation far removed from simple island lives tied to the land, I was raised as a city girl. Yet glimpses of these lives, witnessed up close for a few days each year, have forever tinted my heart’s vision, and inspired a quiet study of the world’s unnoticed magnificence.

To me, watercolor feels alive, luminous and elusive. A living medium for a living subject.
